Mary, Did You Know?

1. The birth of Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promises.  Read and summarize a few of them.  Gen 3:15, Gen 12:1-3, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6
2. During Christmas, we remember that God sent His Son to be with us and to pay for our sins as our Substitute.  No wonder we should celebrate His Birth! – Micah 5:2
3. Last week, we saw that God sent the wise men from Persia as Gentile “Kingmakers”, for the corronation service of the King of Israel, King of the World, Lord of the Universe
   1. The wise men represent to us worship – Matthew 2:11
   2. Make a list of “worship words” that help us with what it means to worship the Lord Jesus:
      1. Ex: “give thanks”, “joyfully magnify”, “sing praises”
4. Today, we learn more about the purpose of Christmas from Mary – Luke 1:26-56
   1. The two named angels in Scripture are Michael and Gabriel – Daniel 10:13, 12:11, Jude 9, Revelation 12:7, Daniel 8:16, 9:21, Luke 1:10-19
   2. The Son of the Most High is El-Elyon=”God Most High” – Gen 14:18-22, Daniel 4:34-36, Luke 1:10-19
   3. Mary’s question: How is this possible?
   4. The Angel’s response: With God, nothing is impossible
5. Mary’s response is the same for us:
   1. “Be it according to Thy Word” – Luke 1:38 = All In
   2. Luke 1:39-45
   3. “My soul magnifies the Lord” – Luke 1:46-56
